Free audio tools that run in your browser

Toolvy’s audio tools do the everyday jobs — convert a format, trim a clip, compress a file for email, make a ringtone, even out loudness — without uploading anything. They are built on ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, the same engine desktop apps use, running inside a Web Worker on your own machine. Your recordings, interviews and music never touch a server, which you can verify by watching the Network tab while you work.

The engine downloads once (about 10 MB) on your first file interaction and is then shared across every audio and video tool for the rest of your visit, so the second job is instant. Nothing loads until you actually pick a file — opening this page, or any other page on the site, downloads none of it.

Convert, compress and edit

The most common job is conversion: use the audio converter for any pair, or a dedicated page like WAV to MP3. To make a file smaller, the audio compressor lowers the bitrate with a live size preview. To cut a clip, the audio trimmer gives you a waveform with draggable start and end points. When you are working with a video, you can also extract its audio as MP3 and bring it here.

Common questions

Audio tools, answered.

The questions people ask before trusting a browser tool with their files.

01

Are my audio files uploaded to a server?

No. Every audio tool runs in your browser using ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. Your file is processed on your own device and never uploaded. You can confirm it in your browser’s Network tab.

02

Why is there a one-time download the first time I use a tool?

The audio engine (ffmpeg.wasm) is about 10 MB. It downloads once on your first file interaction, then stays loaded and is reused across every audio and video tool for the rest of your session.

03

Which audio formats can I convert between?

MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, AAC and OGG. You can also compress, trim, merge, normalise, change speed, adjust volume and edit tags.

04

What bitrate should I choose for MP3?

192 kbps is a great default for music — near-transparent at a small size. Use 128 kbps for speech and podcasts, or 320 kbps for the highest MP3 quality.

05

Can I work with large files?

Short to medium clips work best because everything runs in your browser’s memory. Very large files can be slow or run out of memory, so the tools warn you and let you cancel at any time.

06

Do the tools work offline?

Yes. Once the page and the engine have loaded, processing continues to work with no network connection — there is no server involved in the actual work.
