Free video tools that never upload your files

Toolvy’s video tools handle the everyday jobs — convert a format, compress a clip to fit an email, trim a section, crop for Instagram, make a GIF, pull out the audio — without uploading anything. They run on ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, inside a Web Worker on your own machine, so your footage never leaves your device. We are honest about the trade-off: a browser uses one CPU core, so this is slower than a desktop app and suits short-to-medium clips. You can always cancel, and the tools warn you before a very large file.

The engine downloads once (about 10 MB) on your first file interaction and is then shared with the audio tools for the rest of your visit. Nothing loads until you pick a file — opening this page downloads none of it.

Convert, compress and share

Use the video converter for any format, or a dedicated page like MOV to MP4 for iPhone footage on Windows. To email a clip, the compress-to-target-size tool hits a number like under 25 MB. Pull a soundtrack out with video to MP3 and refine it in the audio tools, or turn a clip into a GIF. Need captions? Generate them from speech with audio to text.

Common questions

Video tools, answered.

The questions people ask before trusting a browser tool with their files.

01

Are my videos uploaded to a server?

No. Every video tool runs in your browser using ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. Your video is processed on your own device and never uploaded — you can confirm it in your browser’s Network tab.

02

Is there a file size limit?

There is no hard limit, but everything runs in your browser’s memory, so short to medium clips work best. Very large or long videos can be slow or run out of memory. The tools warn you and let you cancel at any time.

03

Why is browser video processing slower than a desktop app?

Desktop apps use your GPU and all your CPU cores. For compatibility and privacy, this runs a single-threaded WebAssembly build of ffmpeg on one core, which is slower — the trade for never uploading your file.

04

Which formats can I convert between?

MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV and AVI. You can also compress, trim, crop, resize, rotate, mute, change speed, make GIFs and extract audio.

05

Do the tools work offline?

Yes. Once the page and the ~10 MB engine have loaded, the actual processing needs no network connection — there is no server doing the work.
